Atara Kaye is a registered psychologist and the founder of Purple Rain Psychology.

Atara enjoys working with adults (18+) experiencing Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Grief and Loss, and the challenges associated with ADHD and Autism. She takes a neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based approach, supporting clients to develop self-understanding, improve wellbeing, and build meaningful lives aligned with their values.

Atara has a particular interest in supporting clients with eating disorders or through periods of increased stress, anxiety & emotional distress. She is passionate about helping to restore a healthy relationship with food, family, friends, improve coping, & move towards lasting behavioural change.

Her clinical background includes extensive experience in NSW hospital & community outpatient settings, where she supported people living with complex mental health conditions & substance use in both urban and regional areas. She also works in university counselling services with students & staff experiencing a broad range of psychological concerns.

Atara values inclusive, culturally responsive care & supports clients from a wide range of cultural & religious backgrounds, including Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities and is an ally of people in LGBTIQ+ communities.

She draws on evidence-based therapies tailored to client needs, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT and CBT-E), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and mindfulness-based approaches.

Atara holds a Bachelor of Psychology from UNSW, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology (Advanced) from Monash University, and a Master of Professional Psychology from UNE. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

In her spare time, Atara enjoys reading, walking by the beach, and spending time with her family.
